This page contains two different tools: reusable SMS templates and SMS replies, which controls automatic responses. Saving a template does not send a text. Enabling and saving reply rules can affect future incoming messages.
What you’ll see
Before you start
You need permission to edit the relevant settings. Actual SMS use requires an owned text-capable number, approved registration, and working sending and reply connections. The Demo Account has no active number; its settings cannot establish successful texting.
Review the two sections
- Open Settings → Templates → SMS Templates. Start with SMS replies and inspect Enable automatic SMS replies, Allow AI replies for approved rules, and Maximum reply length. Leave automation unchanged during a read-only review.
- For an authorized policy change, use Add reply type. Choose Reply type, Respond with, and an Approved template. AI rules also require What may AI answer? instructions that define allowed facts and answers.
- Inspect Options for individual numbers. Numbers inherit the account policy unless overridden; new overrides start off. Use account policy removes an override rather than turning all replies off.
- Save reply settings persists the reply policy. It is separate from the template editor's save action and is not a harmless template preview.
- In the template workspace below, select an SMS template or New Template. Review its name, type, module, message content, and AI instructions. Use Create Template or Save Changes, then reopen the template.
Check the result and recover
A reopened template confirms saved wording, not carrier delivery. A saved reply policy confirms configuration, not that an incoming message matched a rule. If readiness is unavailable, inspect the existing number's registration and connection rather than buying another. If a policy save fails, reload and review the authoritative values before retrying. Keep AI and automatic replies disabled until their exact behavior is intentionally approved.
