Your goal

Learn where calls and texts are managed, what each channel needs, and where its history appears. Complete this path without dialing, sending, enabling AI, or purchasing a number.

What you need

Use the Demo Account and an existing synthetic lead. The observed account has no active phone number or eligible caller ID, and AI calling is not fully configured. Do not add an invented number or treat a training contact's displayed number as permission to dial it.

Read-only milestones

  1. Inspect the record. Open Contacts, Calls, and Messages in the lead panel. Identify where saved contact information and channel history belong. Do not click a phone number, Make a Call, or a send action.
  2. Inspect the workspace. Open Speed Dial and its Calling Options. Read the caller-ID/status area and leave Auto-Dial and Parallel Dial unchanged. The captured setup had zero eligible numbers; the presence of calling controls does not mean they can execute successfully.
  3. Separate human and AI setup. The Multiple AI Calls options were opened without preparing or starting calls. Review Dialer and Call Scripts to understand human call preferences and coaching; AI calling has additional configuration and execution requirements.
  4. Check number readiness. Open My Numbers, Registration, and Calling Countries in read-only mode. A voice number does not establish SMS registration or a working reply connection.
  5. Inspect texting policy without enabling it. SMS Templates includes both reusable messages and automatic reply rules. Saving a template differs from enabling and saving a reply policy. Leave both unchanged in this lesson.

Your useful outcome now

You can identify the missing setup, the channel-specific prerequisites, and the history tabs used to inspect later outcomes. You can still use notes and human tasks while communications are unconfigured.

For later

An approved call test needs an authorized number, allowed destination, working microphone/audio, and a team-controlled recipient. An SMS test additionally needs texting readiness and an appropriate recipient. Submit one deliberate action, then inspect its history and the recipient's actual experience. A queued message, provider acknowledgement, or attempted call does not establish delivery or conversation.

If the settings appear contradictory

Troubleshooting

Calling Rotation currently describes hours as applying to manual calls too. The reviewed policy instead lets verified human calls bypass only the calling-hours restriction; AI calls retain it. Opt-outs, do-not-call checks, and other restrictions remain. After Hours is a separate inbound answering schedule. A default-looking switch while policy loads is not accepted configuration evidence. Investigate the specific readiness error rather than loosening unrelated rules or buying another number.
