Edit exposes the current lead's contact, company, pipeline, ownership, and research context. Open the record in the shared lead drawer and select Edit. You need permission to access and change that record; archived records can omit this tab.

What you’ll see

The Edit tab on a lead, with the main contact fields and sections such as Contact Details and Company Information.

Inspect before typing

  1. Confirm you are viewing the intended lead.
  2. Review Name, Company, Email, Phone, and the additional contact fields.
  3. Inspect deal values, Lead Stage, Lead Status, assignment, and call-planning fields separately.
  4. Check company description, industry, employee range, addresses, social profiles, and reference links as needed.

This editor autosaves fields after changes. Dropdowns and grouped changes also have persistence handlers. There is no general “type freely, then Cancel” guarantee. During read-only review, do not type into a field or change a dropdown to test it.

Make a bounded correction

Before an authorized edit, identify the exact field and the evidence supporting the replacement. Stage and status are related: use the destination's actual available status labels rather than guessing a combination. Ownership and call-planning changes affect the team's workflow.

Qualification overrides are separate decisions with a reason and rescoring consequences. Do not use an override merely to make a score or lifecycle look preferable. Deal-size fields can distinguish an unknown amount from a recorded value; do not replace unknown values with invented numbers.

Verify and recover

Allow pending saves to finish, then reopen the lead and check the specific changed fields. An immediate local display change does not prove persistence. If several fields changed before a failure, inspect each result rather than assuming all changes succeeded or all rolled back.

If the record changed unexpectedly, retain the field name and sanitized error for support. Do not repeatedly switch status or overwrite contact details to force a refresh. Review Activity for recorded changes, while recognizing that its history can be incomplete.
